We understand that travelling abroad can sometimes create unexpected difficulties in maintaining an ongoing psychiatric treatment. Medication may be lost, run out during your stay, or may not be dispensed by a pharmacy without a valid prescription issued by a doctor in Greece.

Our Emergency Psychiatric Prescription Service for foreign visitors and tourists in Greece is designed to help prevent a sudden and potentially distressing interruption of ongoing treatment (eg. ADHD meds, benzos, antidepressants, mood stabilizers, etc.). The service is provided promptly and remotely, helping patients avoid the waiting times and inconvenience associated with accessing public healthcare services.

Electronic Prescriptions for Psychiatric Medication in Greece

In Greece, medical prescriptions are issued electronically through the national e-prescription system. Following a medical assessment, and provided that continuation of the treatment is considered clinically appropriate, we may issue an electronic prescription without the need for printed documents.

The prescription code will be sent to you by email. You can present this code at any pharmacy in Greece in order to have the prescription dispensed, subject to Greek legislation and any applicable prescribing restrictions.

How to Request an Emergency Psychiatric Prescription

To assess your request, we will ask you to provide the necessary personal details, information about your current medication and relevant medical documentation. This may include: a previous prescription; a medical letter or treatment summary; a photograph of the medication packaging; or another document confirming your established treatment.

Once the information has been reviewed, we will register you in the Greek national e-prescription system, and an electronic prescription will be issued provided that the request is considered medically appropriate and safe.
